I visited the MPI booth at the recent BizBash NYC expo (which I have written a bunch about over on the Sheffield blog - blog.sheffield.edu) and was thrilled to hear how receptive they are to student members. They even offer scholarships!

At more than 24,000 members, MPI is a respected and influential organization in the events planning world, particularly for planners of things other than weddings and social events. Here is some information from their site about student memberships:

Student Members
Student membership shall be available to those individuals enrolled in a post-secondary academic program. The student must be enrolled in either a certificate, undergraduate or graduate program unless the academic institution defines it otherwise. Students enrolled in a certificate program [Editor's note: Like Sheffield] will be eligible for student membership for one year but will not be eligible for the transition dues rate upon completion of their program. Proof of enrollment must be received at MPI before a student can be accepted into membership and upon renewal in order to retain their student membership.

Annual dues are $40 USD, CAD, or €40 Euro.
